Chest Drain

The method described in this product uses Ultrasound to initially confirm the presence and nature of the collection. The drain is inserted by first entering the collection with a relatively thin and atraumatic sheathed needle down which a guidewire can be passed and then the drain inserted over the wire.

The method uses a chest drain as the example but the same method and equipment can be used for draining any collection from any site in the body that is accessible from the percutaneous route.
